Okay, everybody has his own opinion here :-) cool.. IMO the early version also comes closer to the OT album. More and deeper bass and less engineered sounding with clearly on the fly muting of thacks like Trash used to do on the early albums (Loving U) I'm sad to conclude as well that i did not like the live set they played on DOUR 2001 (BE).. Okay, the weather was f$^&ng shit and all, but the show was not rocking as it did back in '95 @ Happy happy JoY JoY Tour. I can sense the influence of Andy here. Clearly, i do NOT dislike the Orb or BadOrb stuff now, but i think the Cydonia album could have been more enjoyable than it now is. Orb-out Arv

IMHO, the "official" version of Mile Long Lump of Lard rocks all over the earlier version. I like the way LX and co. cleaned it up so we could actually hear the samples instead of a big wall of distortion. Sure it could have been longer, but after hearing it live (which was based on the "official" version) I'll always think of the track as a great way to start a show.

BTW Orblivion is my third favorite Orb album behind Ultraworld and U.F. Orb, I thought it was a remarkable return to form. Cydonia is definitely uneven but has several outstanding tracks that make it worth owning, i.e. Promis, Terminus, and Thursday's Keeper.

Ooh man, i couldn't agree more! That version is by far better than the one that appeared on Cydonia.. The Cydonia version is not 'fat' sounding as it should do. And is less rough sounding. Why they desided to apply a different mix is a complete MISTERY to me.. Or can anybody clear this up for me?

To me, the best track is the one that didn't make it; I think the pre-release version of A Mile Long Lump Of Lard kicks ass all over the final version, and over every other track on the album. (Which isn't to say that there aren't other very good tracks on the album, like on every Orb album.)
