Re: [Orb] Re: OUTRAGE OVER PALESTINIAN SITUATION
This is just my personal opinion on this but, I dont think that whole situation really has a solution which can be imposed from the outside. You've got crazy extremist israelis which believe that god gave the jews that land (never mind that he also gave them iran, iraq, syria, lebanon, etc - all within the boundaries of historical israel. or that in the torah judaism basically forbids a religious state), and you've also got palestinians and arabs generally who wont rest until there is no israel (never mind that people have been living there now for 50 years and the israeli government is nominally the only democratic state in the region). These people are really the problem. Dont forget, too, people have been fighting over the so-called "Holy Land" for an obscene amount of time. First the babylonians conquered it, then the asyrians, then the egyptians, then the jews, then the persians, then the romans, then the christians, then the muslims, then the christians again, etc etc etc. The only way to solve that problem is for all sides to renounce their rights of exclusivity. Just fucking the share the land already you morons.
......Party political speech for the Peace in the Middle East (remix) Party,
Maybe I'm naive but I believe that that the main hope for relative world peace is for the US (and the very Great Britain) to actively take control of the Israeli/Palestinian Peace Talks. Then take some UNBIASED forceful action (No, not invade, but sanctions, grants, support, etc), but what I am asking is how do we get our governments to do this? Anyone? My suggestion is a a mass organized e-mail campaign telling all our local officials and government that we will only vote for them in the next election if we have already seen them support action or do something on this.
just a thought?
