So I got this USB hard drive for my computer. I've never had room on my computer (due to it's age and SCSI format, read the archives) to put all my mp3s on it. So I've got a lot of them on this new drive I got. Forty something gigs. Never had that, you know. So, anyway, I took all the songs on this new drive and put them in Winamp. It was over 5000. For some reason there are almost 300 less when I do the same thing with Musicmatch. So I put all these songs in Winamp. Then I hit "shuffle play." It's like having a really strange radio station. Some amazingly cool segues from an odd Orb song to an old Eno song to Robyn Hitchcock to FSOL to some friend of mine to some techno guy I don't know anything about to a Monty Python's bit and on and on. It's been tons of fun so far. So I put all this stuff into Musicmatch and shuffled the playlist. And I'm burning cds from this list. And then playing them on random in my car. I'm refusing to hit fast forward, listening to everything. They're all mp3s. Did I mention that? And they sound better than you do. Oh, did I mention the subwoofer?
