When I first heard the Chi-Lites on Back To Mine I linked it immediately to LX's brother as it is placed immediately after 'Ow Much. Maybe The Chi-Lites were one of those bands Martin Paterson liked when he was young or maybe it is a song LX remembers from Martin's collection. Might be a Freudian thing... I have my musical memories too. First record I ever bought was from Middle Of The Road and I still get jellyknees when I hear Grocer Jack (aka Excerpt from a teenage opera).
