So not much word from anyone about the UK Bicycles & Tricyles... I didn't find it earth-shatteringly different from the Japan release. I think I'm still diggin Prime evil and tower 23 the best. Simon's got the touch when it comes to bass, and Tower 23 has that clasic Orb In Dub sound to it... I will admit that aftermath is growing on me, but i will never get over the mc... i wish they'd put out an instrumental version or something Anyone else have much of a reaction? =) rachel ------------------------------------ Rachel's Orb Discography http://www.backsideoftheorb.com
Anyone else have much of a reaction?
yes. my reaction is "when is that youth album coming out??? that'll fill my dubby fix that the orb no longer fills." tower 23 reminds me of a bad orb cover band trying to do their own "orby" dub song. i'll stick to terminal or towers of dub thank you. but then again i think that the new phish single kicks ass too. so what do i know. c __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Arrived Monday. Been listening to it at work (low volume) for a couple of days. Finally got to listen at a decent level last evening and in the car today (vacation day). I hear two different albums. First impression of the JA version was that it wasn't a finished product. The UK version has some major re-tweaking. Some for the better. The opener "Orb Is" sounds better to me this time around. The same for "From A Distance". "Abstractions" on the JA version is stuck in my brain at the moment and I'm a bit disappointed in that when the wax comes out next week this will not be the version we get :( "Tower Twenty Three" has become phat, and that is a good thing. "Aftermath" I couldn't believe, but has grown on me too. Rachel, I agree, they need to release a version side. In the end, you really have to own both copies! Each one earns points for different tracks. US version? Another bonus track? Different mixes? I sure hope so. Most groups release an album, The Orb, multiple versions. Now what to throw into Fridays set... fvll --- "-->rachel" <rachel@migoto.com> wrote:

I'm enjoying the uk b&t album..... Most loved: L.U.C.A (what's it stand for?) Most hated: Prime Evil (at 3:30 I want to kick in my stereo) Slowly growing: Aftermath, Hells Kitchen Abstractions is also brilliant. Tower 23 is great but missing something on a different level...I don't know if it's lack of textures or substance or what...Still trying to figure out where Gee Strings fits in.... The rest of the album is very listenable but I miss how an Orb album can take you on a journey from start to finish. The only two tracks that sound good back to back are Abstractions & LUCA, Compania & Dilmun. The artwork is nice too. bk on now: The Ethiopians - Reggae Hit The Town ----- Original Message ----- From: "-->rachel" <rachel@migoto.com> To: "What were the skies like when you were young?" <orb@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, May 13, 2004 10:31 AM Subject: [Orb] B&T - UK Version
