I don't know if any of you guys know Ott, but you really should. His newest work, Blumenkraft, kicks serious ass. If you like dubby, spacey, but really well orchestrated stuff, check it out. His previous album was an incredible remix of Hallucinogen. Called, Hallucinogen in Dub. Give the stuff a whirl, if your in need of some quality dub that isn't cliché in the least bit. What's cool about Ott is he's accessible online, hangs out on irc, and talks to his fans as if they were his friends. I'm supporting this guy, for sure. Cheers, Mark

Blumenkraft is Definitely among the best albums I've picked up this year. I second the recommendation. Hallucinogen in Dub was one of the best albums from last year. Anything this guy touches is solid gold. He did a lot of production work on the Shpongle albums as well. Beautiful, intense, uplifting. Peace. Last I knew he hung in #audiowarez on undernet. I forget the nick. My close friend ended up finding out about his music by talking to him, oddly enough. Straight from the source. Not sure if he still hangs there. This was about a year ago. I do know that he helped my friend out with how to use some software packages.

Agreed. I used to think I was invincible at my job (fixing pinball machines), then I got axed. I look back and see where I was wrong and have since changed my attitude. My boyfriend and I both got fired from our IT jobs here in Madison. We found out the president of our company, who was married to a 75yo attorney, was fucking the CEO of her company, who was married and had two kids at home and a $40mil bank account, behind her husband's back... We intercepted an email she sent him that said to the effect of "I really am glad we have such wonderful sex..." etc. etc. Stupidly, and hilariously, we forwarded it around the entire office, to all the venture capitalists, to all the investors, to the CEO and his wife, to the president AND her husband, to the newspapers, the radio... This was in retaliation for us being reprimanded for using a felon to do some security work on the servers. We didn't know he was a felon at the time... Do some research on Chicago, Joseph Konopka, and CTA, and you'll read all about it. Anyway, we were both terminated. I haven't played corporate policeman since... And I learned a valuable lesson. If she's fucking the CEO behind her husband's back, just take photos... And publish them on the net instead :) and then send her husband the URL. *giggle* Anyway... Back to reality...! -Brian On 7/17/03 9:06 PM, "Gavin Miller" <orbaddict@yahoo.com> wrote:

Yo my homies! I know its been a long time since I rapped at ya (footnote: Jim Anchower), but a lot of things have been brewin in Gel-Sol land . First off, I donÂt have a job. IÂm an experienced Graphic Designer/Multimedia artist, so if you anyone who needs some help, freelance or full-time, hook a brother up! HereÂs a quick synopsis of the news: 1. August 5th show opening for DJ Spooky. 2. September 6th show in Greensboro, N.C. with radio interview(s). 3. Label/Distribution interest in the U.K. 4. New Songs! Ready? Go! On Tuesday, August 5th I will be playing a set at the State Theatre in Falls Church, Virginia at 7:30, opening for that Subliminal Kid, Dj Spooky also performing will be Rob Wasserman (had something to do with the Dead) and the Headhunters (I think Herbie Hancock was in this band if he isnÂt now). I will be playing from the house board up front and my pal Jeff Gaul will be doing the visuals .if you havenÂt been to the state theatre, they have an enormous movie screen. I go on very early and I donÂt suspect a lot of people will be there while IÂm playing, but I see this as a Âresume show, so I can say I opened for DJ Spooky. For more info, goto: www.thestatetheatre.com On Saturday, September 6th I will be performing at Café Europa in Greensboro, N.C. Matthew Thomas was kind enough to hook me up with this show and give me a place to crash. School will be back in session, so the kids will be ready to rock. MattÂs pal Andrew will be assisting Gel-Sol with the visuals, and I might get interviewed on one (maybe two) of the college radio stations in the area to promote the show. I guess I need to get all the swear words out of my system so I donÂt fuck up and say some nasty-ass shit on the goddamn radio. IÂm really looking forward to this fucking show! More details to come Next, I was contacted by the A&R guy at Liquid Sound Design www.liquidsounddesign.com and have sent copies of the album to be reviewed by him, and by Youth, the founder of the label. Anyhoo, IÂm waiting to get some feedback from them. I personally think the G-Spot would fit in well with their label, so if you feel like bothering them, go to the website above and send them an email telling them how great my music is. Little white lies never hurt nobody! <-Intentional use of the double negative. Finally, I have new tunes in the works two of them are sort of done. I have two more that are in very early stages, and I hope to have them somewhat complete by the Greensboro show. I already have a blueprint for a new album, and some of these tracks might make it. Until I have some real distribution, it doesnÂt really matter. But thatÂs all I got right now. Oh yeah, and my birthday is on August 4th. Feel free to write me or prank call me and tell me what a shithead I am. Or if yer in the DC area, come to my party and say it to my face. I will be the hot piece of ass with the bottle of Jagermeister. Harrass you later, Yer Pal, Gel-Sol www.gel-sol.com
Sorry dudes, I forgot to mention this in my previous post!!! Yours truly has a track featured on a new compilation album entitled, ÂFree Speech For Sale. If you go to www.freespeechforsale.com you can download all the tracks for FREE along with the album artwork. This album is the second installation in the Droplift Project, and all the songs are pieced together from advertisements. If youÂre a fan of Negativeland, you must check this out. My track is called Sooper Shammy (Return of the Hammer) and is probably my most popular song to date, even though most people wouldnÂt consider it music. I feel anything that has a flow is music, and this piece definitely has flow. Its pretty funny too. But the main idea behind the droplift project is that copies of the album are pressed and sent to the artists to be dropped in the music bins at record stores. The conflict arises when someone wants to buys the album, and the album isnÂt listed in the stores computer. The salesperson then needs to decide whether to sell the album or give it way for free. Either way, it doesnÂt matter its just a wacky thing to do. Technically, Âdroplifting is trespassing, but I promise to be extra sneaky when I drop them off. If you go to the html download page on my website, there's a more recent version of Sooper Shammy there....its a little bit cleaner sound quality with a few more funny bits. http://gel-sol.com/audio/gelsol_downloads.htm Enjoy! I've been looking for a vinyl copy of live 93 for about 3 years now and thought that I'd try my luck on gemm.com just one more time. Usually they have several copies entered in their database but they always email me telling me that can't get it anymore or that it's -no shit- out of print. I saw three orders for the 4xlp and placed all three, thinking I'd be way lucky getting any of them. Christ, all three showed up today, one in mint condition. Anyone looking for a copy of this, email me off list...?

Hmmm, jogging the old noggin here. It's been at least 2 years since I've seen one. I own two Centaurs, one to keep, one to sell (it's currently missing the backglass). This is one of the best games of the 80's with very cool echo-plex (analog delay) on the music/speech, a spooky voice-track ("Bad move, Human!"), and minimalist black&white art-work. With 5-ball multiball, it's very exciting to say the least. And the whole game is based on earning and releasing "Orbs", and it talks about "Orbian Attack" (would be a great name for an Orb album) and "Maximum Orbian Strength Achieved". grant..
OK, I have to ask, once you've got the backglass, how much? What does a pinball machine go for on average? UKP please. And please say that you are UK as well. I would love my own pinball machine. I guess I would need a house/shed to put it in first though... What are the jobs prospects for this kind of work as well? Am starting to get a little cheesed-off with 2nd line electronic support and wireless networks in a faceless company 8( Anyone got any good (interesting) job offers in electronics/networks/communications? Sorry, bad day at work, need a rant. Now back to the music...

The Orb didn't even use the most obvious sample of all from Sleeper where they got their name from. They didn't get too much into that sort of smug sampling.. ..though i dropped the orb scene from sleeper into my Little Fluffy Clouds remix. Yes i did. I think someone could and should do a novelty thrash metal version of Little Fluffy Clouds like what ENT did to KLF's 3AM Eternal. Just to bury it once and for all. Death metal vocals, too. WHAT!
