I would like to know what people on the list Are listening to other than the orb Whats like underground , happening and what the kids like.. You know interesting things like not paul mcartney Things I have noticed lately... rapoon/savath&savalas/curdduca And that james brown live gig is fat man
Here are a few recent CD's that I'm enjoying immensely. Not necessarily Orbish in style, but all have little mindblowing moments in their own way: Stephan Mathieu & Ekkehard Ehlers - Heroin Sort of a cross between Oval and... something more melodic/ambient. Second disc has remixes from the likes of Kit Clayton and Fennesz. Very pretty, very detailed, very warm. I think someone who likes Rapoon would definitely enjoy this. Sigur Rós - () Not underground, but a truly stunning recording nonetheless. Don't miss these guys in concert if they come to your town. Audio Active - Spaced Dolls This is actually a couple of years old, but I just got it a couple of months ago. Former On-U Sound act, heavy electronic dub. The Stereonerds - HD Endless Yet another Atom(tm) guise. Kraftwerk is reborn! Loads of fun. DJ /rupture - Minesweeper Suite Terrific mix-CD, many different styles of things (electronic, dancehall, drum'n'bass, rap, etc.), very well done. V/A - Blue Skied An' Clear 2CD compilation from Morr Music. First disc is Morr artists covering Slowdive, second disc is same artists' original material. Gorgeous electronic pop songs. V/A - (sic) Compilation from Broklyn Beats. The best ways to describe it might be "off-kilter" and "all over the map." Admittedly not for everyone, a couple of tracks are rather amateurish, but it's worth a listen if you can find a way to do so. Xerophonics - Copying Machine Music Exactly what the title says it is. Much better listen than it has any right to be. Downloadable from emusic if you are so inclined. -- Adam J Weitzman - voxpop arbitrageur
