I dunno. I kind of like the post modern non-linear narrative style. Catch-22 is a fabulous example of that style but easier to follow. If you enjoy the strangeness of WSB you should check out Michael Moorcock's non-serial fiction (I'm thinking of the Cornelius Chronicles, I think). Well, his fantasy stuff is great, too but less bizarre. He wrote The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle as well. While we're expanding our minds: http://www.deoxy.org/mckenna.htm Terrance McKenna invented the isolation chamber. I also believe he coined the phrase "heroic doses" to describe the quantities of psychoactive substances he used in his anthropological and dolphin studies. I suddenly want to do some acid. You should give a listen to Miles's last albums as long as you're visiting him. For some reason I can picture where he went as being where Jimi would've gone. Other music you should hear but may not have: Master Musician's of Jajouka: Apocalypse Across the Sky and Jajouka Black Eyes The first album will scare the shit out of you and might make you cry all while being consumed with wonder (a la Brion Gysin and Brian Jones) and the second album will make you happy and warm (especially fun is the song, "Brian Jones is Very Stoned"). Another great record is Vince Guaraldi Trio Sunday Night at the Village Vanguard Absolutely sublime. The bassist was killed the next day in a car wreck. His playing is jaw droppingly good. ...did a little search and it appears to be out of print!
