Frankly, I think the 7" edit is one of the most interesting pieces of drum n' bass i've heard (that would be the ding changa-din-jang-ga rhythm)...
Heh, you must not have heard too much drum n bass in your time. . .
maybe you're all just house-heads with no space for hardstep in your musical cache =P....man, you probably don't like the ganja kru remix of "toxygene" either (which is brilliant)
Nope, I'm no house head, in fact I'm obsessed with breakbeats. I simply find the track annoying, what with the recycled Enigma sample and all. While I wouldnt call the ganja kru remix of "toxygene" brilliant, it aint too shabby. Check out the ganja kru remix of the Beastie Boys "Negotiation Limerick File" for an even better remix job. To each their own though, how about this for a survey if Mickey Mars aint it, what do you all think the lamest Orb track ever is? (or are we all so LX-struck that we love anything he has ever been involved with?) "We're Pastie to Be Grill You" gets my vote! ;P ----- Original Message ----- From: Andrew Sturgess Sent: Tuesday, August 27, 2002 1:35 AM To: orb@mailman.xmission.com Subject: Re: [Orb] Mickey Mars RULES =P
Yeah. I believe it's one of 5, and frankly, it's shit.
Mickey Mars also turned up on the u.f.off compilation in two different mix forms. The only good thing about it is that strutty rhythm section (that sort of ding changa-din-jang-ga rhythm), otherwise it's quite the Orb's musical nadir.
why is everyone so down on mickey mars?? is it the sorta-cheezy indian chants (as if orb never used cheezy vocal samples b4..ha!) ?? ouch! i LOVE that track - its so eerie and spookey but rhythmic at the same time! (and i'm CONVINCED there are backwards lyrics in there - i just haven;t found em yet) currently, i think there's a resounding hatred of Kyle Zeto, but frankly, I could go without hearing Little Fluffy Clouds ever again. (go on, flame me) guess i'm in the minority of the list - i love the tracks everyone hates, and hate the number one single... =) rachel ______________________ Rachel's Shrine to The Orb: http://www.migoto.com/orb
"We're Pastie to Be Grill You"
Nah. I love that track....reminds me of something I can't quite put my finger on....hmmm...smash robots?!? I think I could live without hearing Once More or Centuries again. Instant spanking of the fast forward button every time I hear them. I like those V1/2 Cydonia tracks too....but then I've always liked drum & bass I suppose [if you can call those dnb]. I'm sure I found the track that they sampled for Yungle the other day, but I forgot what it was. Doh!
actually, i've heard two remixes of centuries that are DAMN good. One of which (the Eurofen mix) was supposed to be a badorb release. Looks like that's a no-go at this point, the other was mediocre, but i thought it to be much better than the original bi11i --- Andrew Sturgess <asturges@pratt.edu> wrote:

Well, I finally got hold of the CD today, and just wanted to let you know the times/mixes of both the Orb and KLF tracks: 9:29 The Orb - A Huge Ever Growing Pulsating Brain That Rules From The Centre Of The Ultraworld 4:54 The KLF - Justified And Ancient live from the Gates Of Paradise To my ears, the Orb track is a completely different version to any other I've heard before (and I believe I have most, if not all, of all the released mixes out there). And very good it is too! Also in the credits it says "Licensed courtesy of BadOrb.com". The KLF track begins with some crowd noise, and the track itself "sounds" different (as if it was actually performed live), although essentially in the same vein as the "Stand By The JAMS" mix. A thought as I'm typing this - maybe it's similar/same to that "legendary" (!) live promo CD that surfaced fairly recently? Anyway, in the credits it says "Exhumed explored an exploited by The KLF". l8rs, Nick ;-)

mabye the tune, but not the little clouds sample, at least for me. -er:c __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Finance - Get real-time stock quotes http://finance.yahoo.com
