Orbvs Terrarvm and Orblivion are my two favorite Orb albums. Passing of Time is one of their best tunes ever. Speaking of which, I haven't checked it out for myself, but I swear the guitarish stab and bassline from Passing of time is the opening riff from the Eagles' "One of These Nights," only pitch-shifted down and stretched.... Anyone care to confirm? Yer Pal, Gel-Sol www.gel-sol.com --- Ramon Vink <ramonvink@hotmail.com> wrote:

I love Orblivion, and Ive found that if you do the tweek where you colour the outside rim of you cd with a permanant green marker, it opens up even more. As for the albums I hated Terravrm when I first got it, but after a few months, it just clicked with me and I can now see it for what a wonderful album it is. One of these knights, bloody brilliant opening riff, that sooooo needs some badorb treatment, but to be honest i never noticed in it passing of time, maybe I dont think enough like a DJ lol Gel-Sol wrote:

hey all, its time to contact the mythbusters about this. I remeber hearing about the Green Marker trick years ago, but never tried it. The news program I saw it on said there was a minor audio difference, but they only went with people's listening opinions. The investigators also tried a black marker, but nobody claimed to hear a difference. I never heard of trying it with blue ink though... Gavin

Wow, listening closely to Orblivion's "Molten Love" again.. Keeps amazing me.. That's what i loved about the old orb, the polyrythmical thing in there. Any Orblivion fans here?

Oh, burn... and I wasn't going to say anything... but now that you mention it, I *am* a little bit jealous :D It's a great album (and a damn nice clock, Gavin). I at least have a t-shirt and poster somewhere... In re the "green marker trick" -- what exactly does this accomplish? Does it cause the laser to do something funky with regard to letting certain frequencies pass or not? What's the "science" behind this claim? -Brian On Jun 1, 2007, at 8:57 PM, Gavin Miller wrote:

The green markers. I knew that one would somehow come back one day. Have a few (3-4) that I tried it on at the time. Didn't hear any difference. If I recall the final conclusion was it didn't improve the sound in any way. Didn't hurt, but didn't work. Count me in. Loved Orblivion then and love it now! green markers adjusting 1s and 0s to make a slight sound difference- the data is either there or not. If you did pick up 1s and 0s that were somehow flying about you would have a very glitchy sound! Just sounds like it would work just as weighting a cartridge on a vinyl more can lose you some top end but different systems. Might work well to write with though? Or colouring in stuff? ----- Original Message ----- From: Edward Halley To: What were the skies like when you were young?
