A rant from Alan Evil included: << No more of this feel good bullshit. >> oh yeah, like this list has been all peace, love, and understanding of late! what the .... ? am i missing some emails? Alan, what are you going on about? << If we wanted hippy chicks we'd listen to Phish and not bathe. >> wait, does that mean i have to bathe to listen to The Orb? DOH! << Let's have insulting transcontinental arguments about what constitutes a really good beer. I haven't heard anything on this subject for a while. As we all know, American micro-breweries create far better beer than those Limeys. >> well, i dunno if that's true. the Limey's don't even make beer anymore -- they sold all that stuff to the Belgians, who, let's face it, don't know beer from piss. except the monks -- their religous folks seem to know something, but the average "Belgian in the street" is clueless. i bet "Bud Ice" is popular over there. do they have "Stella Ice" yet? << Let's have more recommendations of new artists to listen to! >> here is one that is not very Orb-ish, but since you commented on the 80's (with the reference to Rachel's glasses)... check out My Favorite at http://www.lostdetective.com. they have just released a new album, and it the best New Wave album since .... well, since "Brotherhood" i guess. or maybe "Louder than Bombs". good silly stuff. much better than that Electroclash shite that people seem to like these days.... << I really like Beady Belle a lot. >> and what, praytell, is that. PJK please don't hate me because i can't type..... --- All the cool kids are doing it: HTTP://www.EvilSponge.org
OK, about time someone piped up from Blighty and put things right around here... A rant from Alan Evil and PJ Kane included: << If we wanted hippy chicks we'd listen to Phish and not bathe. >> <wait, does that mean i have to bathe to listen to The Orb? DOH!> Damn, and I thought hippy chicks went for The Orb, at least my hippy ex is really into them although the ex part doesn't help me much at the moment. Alan, I sympathise. Should I be moving my Ozrics to the front of my CD stack/.m3u now? Is that where I'm going wrong. << Let's have insulting transcontinental arguments about what constitutes a really good beer. ... As we all know, American micro-breweries create far better beer than those Limeys. >> <well, i dunno if that's true. the Limey's don't even make beer anymore -- they sold all that stuff to the Belgians> Surely anything in the US with the word 'micro' in is half owned by Mr Gates these days or he is at least leading a lawsuit against the righteous use of the word micro. As for those Belgians, we sold them nothing and their beer's totally different from ours you wazzock. Go look up Weiss-bier & Framboise vs Mild & Bitter and probably look up wazzock while you're about it. Then tell me when you have actually got back from Brugge if you have any 'pubs' in the US that do over 300 different beers including ales, pilsner, stouts (what do you mean, 'what the F is stout'), cider, larger, bitter, perry, mild, heavy, oompha-lumpha stick it up your jacksy. Not to mention those other wonderful European concoctions of Jagermeister, Absinthe, Angosturas Bitters, Palinca, UniCum... I could go on but I have a 3k limit to think about. O yeh, and we can still smoke in our pubs as well, for the moment at least. Something else to blame on you lot. It may be that you find those gentile Belgians a little scary with their strange alien tongue and will only expand your international roaming within English speaking countries, I hear only 3% of Yanks actually have a passport and half of them thought they needed it to go to Disneyland. If you dare make it to London (No 1 short break destination for the world's terrorists at the moment, aren't we sooo lucky, thanks America) you will inevitably, as all Yanks do, end up in Covent Garden so you should really go check out this place and the marvellous little Tapas place right next door. You guys wouldn't know culture if it jumped out a petri dish at you. Go look up Tapas as well. http://www.fluidfoundation.com/venueDetails.asp?venue_id=415 And if I really wanted to twist the knife for the US; Kyoto agreement? <snip for 3k limit>
<snip - here we go again> << Let's have more recommendations of new artists to listen to! >> OK, something a little less OT now. I've been playing my 'Infected Mushroom' to death lately along with recently discovered (to me at least) Astral Projection. Also recently picked up an old React CD of a Takkyu Ishino mix. Great CD with the fantastic opening lyrics of the 'Fukin Sukin' track by Traxmen tucked away in the middle. Also stumbled across Tom Petty's 'Girl on LSD' track on Kazaa last week. Worth the download for an introspective giggle about your old flames. And finally, on my list to Santa the new Shpongle limited release 'remixes'. No, I didn't know about it either until it popped up as 'customer also bought' when looking for something else on Amazon. And while we are full of seasonal cheers and beers, any suggestions on the best place to be this New Year in Europe and where's my invite... Go on, flame me now. Having a really slow shit week at work so I could do with the distraction. Billy -- ***************** ICQ - 13010621 www.billyb.org.uk *****************
