<< if you have a favorite female artist that has influenced you deeply - please let us know the track name & why?: >> "influenced me deeply"? hmmm.... my favorite female recording artist is, hands down, Ms. Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins. i listen to this band a lot, and there really isn't anything else like them. Ms. Fraser's vocal powers are impressive, and her emotive powers are wondrous as well. sure, she sings incomprehensible nonsense (syllables and sounds, not words), but that merely removes the cognitive side of the listening act, allowing you to listen fully with your right brain and just sense the emotions she is trying to convey. usually she is trying to portray calm and safety through sound. listen to anything off of _Victorialand_ to hear that. sometimes she is screaming at the void, yelling at the chaos that is life. see, "The Spanglemaker" or "Hitherto" for good examples of that stuff.... okay, well, hope that helps you on your project bbroo! PJK please don't hate me because i can't type..... --- All the cool kids are doing it: HTTP://www.EvilSponge.org
I would have to say.... Lisa Gerrard, of Dead Can Dance. For a small-framed woman, she can belt out some impressive sounds. And she sounds absolutely incredible on a few hits of E. =D Her medieval and tribal sounds really reach into the depths of my soul. Every time I hear her sing I get some serious goose bumps. -Brian

Toni Halliday of Curve. Check out Freaky Chakra's "Budded on Earth To Bloom In Heaven" and Curve's "Coming Up Roses" (esp the Blue Amazon rmxs). T PS - best use of Minnie Ripperton sample is not Orb but Rotterdam Remix Project's "Loving You" which features awful MR sample followed by Beavis/Butthead "Shut UP!" and then massive hardcore continuation....

I miss Dead Can Dance - A very special band whose music is too good to be from this world. Lisa's voice is heavenly, yet can harness the power of the underworld with little effort. Paired up with Brendan Perry, the two sold the most records out of any band signed to 4AD worldwide. Their live shows were even more special than the studio releases; the sets they performed weren't "best of" tracks but were made up mostly of unreleased material. Dozens of songs they performed have never been officially recorded and live on only through bootlegs. Gavin __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
