So, I've been making these cd-r's of random selections from my mp3 collection. I've also gotten a selection of them from Listees. Killer shit, really. It's like tuning in an excellent radio station. With a freak on the tables. Anyway, I got three random cd's from other people. And I've burned a bunch, probably nine, of them from my own, constantly changing collection. On all three cd's I got from other people there was a version of the Orb's "Blue Room." And on my first three cd-r's from varying playlists as well as two different cd-r's culled from the first, random playlist... [I burned three or four cd-rs from a single, random playlist of my collection when I first thought of this but since then I've ripped more of my collection as well as deleting some crap I downloaded while downloading something else so now I make a new, random list and burn the top of the list.] ...there was a different version of "Blue Room" [on five of nine different random burns the song "Blue Room" occurred] I've got like 42GB of mp3s that get placed in the random playlist. This is almost 6000 files. They get scrambled. I take the first bunch of files that fit onto a cd minus the really super long shows. There are, what? Ten different versions of "Blue Room" on my hard drive? That includes the versions in live sets. How in the world could it occur in FIVE out of nine cd-rs I've burned from my collection (a 1 in 600 chance each tine) AND all three cd-r's from my friends? It means something. I just wish I could read the writing. ____________________ www.psychicreform.com ____________________ Rich Folks and Huge Corporations care about YOU!
