i have to agree on the orbsessions, i was pretty dissapointed. alot of those mixes where not released because i dont think they should have been released. the transit kings album is growing on me but i deffinately didn't have that initial "i love it" reaction. i am just happy to see the good doctor is so busy.
I think 2&3 is overall very good - few weak tracks (house one and esp the rap one) plus the last 3 or so are too boring/new age ambient instead of Orb, reminds me of some of MBM's ambient attempts on Sub Sand.... That
said though, I think the album, while it also doesn't really flow like the good ol' Orb ones, has some really good stuff on it. The Orb refuses to stand still, which in my opinion keeps things fresh (and yeah, the Japanese version has THE mix of FoD as far as I am concerned). Now, the Okie Dokie one doesn't excite me as much - probably about as much as Orbsessions - more boring and less Orb-y. I think the first part of the album is better than the second (seems I saw contrary opinions on this). While it's not that Orb-y, at least the first part is well done and reasonably energetic - and still well-produced.

PS - speaking of MBM, just got the Live '05 cd from the Chicago show (IIRC) (friend picked it up at Tuscon show). Packaging is rather minimal, sound quality good. Content good but no encore stuff (too bad, that rendition of House of God was quite nice). So, if you make it to a show (if the tour is still on), it's a worthwhile purchase, esp given the lack of live stuff from MBM (or the Orb for that matter), at least as far as officially-released stuff is concerned.
i had a few questions i wanted to throw out there. i used to be on the orb list years ago but i was away for a while. my first question is in >From a Distance that sample that goes "better than the best, oh yes" sounds so familiar to me, was it used in any other tracks before somewhere or am i imagining this.
also, i wanted to know what peoples opinons of the bicycles & tricyles album was. i had a chance to grab it last year and listened to it a couple times but was not very thrilled about it. the track aftermath really turned me off. but now that i have my stereo again and a car i have relistened to it and i am really begging to enjoy this album. i also just got the japan version which is very cool too.
i just recently got the okie dokie album as well and i am so impressed by it,
you can really hear thomas fehlman's unique style on this one, i can't wait to see those two live!! anyways peac! e to you all . . .
