Similar in florida. I have XEN LAB on my truck now. I can freely transfer it from car to car for only $5. I believe normal plates were around $80 and a personalized plate was only $100-120. Renewall is only like $10 more than normal (which is around $45). The cost is not exorbitant at all, and worth it in my opinion. In VA the prices between the two are even closer. 2 out of 3 cars it seems have a personalized plate. On 8/2/05, Brian <brian@lists.frickster.net> wrote:

Tim, regarding plates: the registered plates are owned by you; they are merely tied to the car in the DMVs database. However, if you get a new car, you need only tell the dmv and move the plates to the car for a small fee. In WI, it's a $35 fee to register a car and transfer plates you own to the new car. It's $80/year to own custom plates, over the $55/year to have plates at all. It might be slightly different in other states, but I do know that it's safe to own plates without having to give them up should you get rid of the car in question.

So what Orb plates are out there?
I've toyed with the idea of getting one for ages now, but as Tim pointed out, it does cost quite a bit extra each year. However, after losing an irreplaceable sticker to someone who doesn't know how to park, I'm giving it more consideration...
