Hi fellow orbsters
I also have not been able to post in as long as i can remember, so I hope my test messgae also comes through too!
Again thanks to RMS for his help in getting back to orb transcentral, have felt a little lost reading your messages but not being able to reply for myself from my sealed off bubble!
My copy of the Dream arrived yesterday from Japan and on first listen there is some great stuff on there and some not so, like another has said, a mixed bag. The good, well the title track the dream is great and vuja de i actually really like the vocals on it. Orbsonia is absolutely fantastic, and a hark back to older more ambient noodlings. I quite like high noon and katskills too. The bonus track is like some of the dancier moments from the real old days. The artwork is really cool too - has anyone got a translation yet for the japanese orb history booklet inside? he he. However there is some dross there too - Beautiful day and DDD are not my cup of tea at all. And not so keen on some of the rapping in places either. Would prefer generally no voals (apart from on vuja de), but maybe the european release will have slightly different versions once alex has read the feedback from the board.
Overall I would say this is miles better than okie and cydonia and whilst maybe not quite as good as orblivion, its nearly on a par. But I guess we just have to accept that nothing will ever again be as good as the perfect Orb trio - ABTU, UF Orb and Orbvs Terrarvm. I do love things being more sample driven again after the paired down bore that was okie dokie. For me the samples bring an aura to the songs that enables you to catch something new in the tracks each time you listen to them.
So pretty happy with the first couple of listens to the dream and happy that Alex has got a little bit more on track. Not perfect, but definately not bad at all.
Regards
Gimberz
