The way america markets music, you would think that all the "artists" have been on strike for a long time. And I dont consider bands like Styx and Kansas prog rock.....more like shit rock. I do have a soft spot in my heart for 70's Rush though. "C'mon, Geddy Lee....greatest bass player ever!" That was a quote from Trey Parker and Matt Stone's Orgasmo...... I think american prog rock was watered down compared to the european stuff. So Kris, since were talking about prog, whats yer view on Steve Hillage? I quite liked his work in Gong, find his solo work cheesy, and like System 7 to an extent....The Power of 7 is the only album I really really like by them. I find it troubling that the Edge from U2 has really macked a guitar style that hillage was doing in the early 70's.... Yer Pal, Gel-Sol www.gel-sol.com
... and some other
electronic guys going (or returning to) rock sounds and instruments.
Consider that record labels and most of North America did not know how to handle techno and killed it..oh and the UnderGround DJ's for Mass Appeal didn;t help either...and know we are all broke..like, seriously broke...so that's why you are seeing this kind of thing now....it's sad really
I quite like some of the post rock bands It is sad That as a world We cant look after our artists properly I think all artists should go on strike Just for one day To see how different the world would be No music no pictures would be weird All radio off - silence All the ads everywhere and pics blank Somebody would notice
aunty
