A friend had run into a room at a San Francisco rave way back in '91 and there was the Orb. I don't know if this is even possible, were they touring that year in the states? Anyway, she came home completely babbling about this "band" that played electronic music w/ quad sound and a light show that was unreal. We listened to "Orbs Adventures" many, many nights after that coming onto or down from something or another. Including a heroic journey when I laid back and absorbed the whole album 3-4 times in a row in a complete state of religious abandon. I have felt my DNA was bonded to the Orb ever since. Caught every Orb show in SF since- all good, all the same feeling of overwhelming input and space to do your own thing. Finally caught a LX solo set in NYC Knitting Factory in 2000, then again in SF in 2001 & 2002. Selah! xoxo beowulf
