anyone care to share their first disc of the new year? kinda bored here...
Haven't bought anything so far this year, but at the very end of last year, I bought the following, all of which are fabulous (I'm on a lucky streak...) Alabama 3 - Power In The Blood (Aside from the unfortunate cover art (I don't think they "get" the overtones the art has in the US) this is a great follow-on from the boys; now if they'd only tour in the US again, and get an e-commerce site up for their "special" releases.) Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With the Arab Strap (A guilty pleasure; perfect pop.) The Beta Band - The Beta Band (It's Not Too Beautiful is the highlight of a strong, varied album.) Boards of Canada - Geogaddi (Yummy.) Lemon Jelly - lemonjelly.ky Lemon Jelly - Lost Horizons (Both of these releases are mind-blowing, and have been on constant rotation for weeks.) Sigur Ros - ( ) (Beautiful, almost heart-breakingly so. Are their earlier releases this good?) Tino's Breaks 4 - Mambo Tino's Breaks 6 - Hallowe'en Dub (Nice, thick, dubby releases from Jack Dangers and company; Hallowe'en Dub in particular is *very* effective; now I want the Christmas album on CD.) A huge thanks to those on this list who were pimping Lemon Jelly a while ago; I listened, and put them on my buy list; their albums are my favorite new releases in a very long time. Mind-blowing in a very mellow, relaxed, organic sort of way. (With one exception; if I was still doing hallucinogens, Experiment Number Six might well have killed me.) ;) If you haven't heard them, give them a listen. Chris
