Hi Orb fans,
I used to be on this list ten years ago!! I first heard the orb
when I was about 13 and was instantly hooked (lying in the sun
listening to ultraworld).
Since then my infatuation with electronic music had definitely consumed
my life. I got a degree in electrical eningeering primarily to be able
to build my own synths and fx. I then supplemented this with a diploma
in recording arts.
I produce deep techno under the guise "Intellijel" (short for
intelligent jell-o) and you can check out some of my stuff at
www.intellijel.com
Why am I hear?? To be honest, I am an old school orb fan; I still
consider the Blue Room to be the greatest piece of electronic music of
all time. I still regulalry listen to u.f.orb, orbus terrerum and
ultraworld BUT I lost interest by the time Orblivion was dropped.
Cydonia, Bikes and Trikes and other stuff I have not connected with...
feels like the golden age of the Orb was in the past with heavy
collaboration (I consider Fehlman, Weatherall and Hillage to be key
elements). All that being said, I am very keen to hear the new work on
Kompakt with Mr. Fehlman.
My question:
Can someone point me to some links, interviews. resources etc. that
discuss in nerdy detail the equipment and processes used on the older
Orb albums?? Even new equipment/production techniques are of interest.
cheers,
Danjel aka Intellijel [Vancouver]
