hi everyone,
thanks to ebay and more recently soulseek, i now have a fantastically satisfying orb collection :))) (ps, thanks ever so much to everyone who's let me browse their files and download)

anyway, i thought i'd pose a few questions and share an observation or two. firstly i was of the musguided delusion that the orb just couldn't get any better... ra-ra-wrong! :-D bbc live '98 (espesh toxygene), organic '96 (the evolution of secrets), and all the numerous remixing of already fantastic tracks into even better ones (captain korma & falkenbruck for example) etc proved me very wrong.

the biggest shock of all to me though was the discovery of different versions of cydonia. i'll be honest with you, i hated cydonia when i first heard it, apart from what were to me obvious classics like ghostdancing and terminus. but other than them i really hated it. it seemed full of erroneous tracks in a very disjointed order of play... it just didn't fit.

so imagine my joy when i got the full demo version #2 (i think?), the ...ralf, freely wheely, yungle version... wow! :-D
now this version really does work. for starters i cant quite honestly believe ralf was ever dropped. it was one of those rare orb tracks like LFC, toxygene, oxbow lakes, towers of dub, ghostdancing, terminus, falkenbruck, that hooked me instantaneously. also it blends perfectly as an album. mile long lump of lard, promise, once more, turn it down - were all turned down on the original for me, however now they are all completely in context (albeit once more is a slightly different mix... the difference is subtle but exactly what was needed) and seem perfectly to paint a sonic picture on the theme of cydonia and the ghosts of mars. i'm blown away by it and can't stop playing it. its fantastic and although i genuinely love (and i mean i'd choose these albums above anybody elses and in a heart beat) orblivion, okie dokie, ffwd & u.f.orb. cydonia has become the second orb masterpiece behind orbvs terrarvm, that i was always looking for :)

...erm forget the questions, that turned into a bit of an epic :-D ah well, nevermind, i rarely post msgs anyway so i guess i had a lot of writing to make up for ;-p

best wishes orbsters!
