Maybe I don't understand what you are trying to say, but burning the files to DVD doesn't solve the disk space problem unless I delete them from the drive. If I do that, nobody can access them?

Oh no then you can just share the contents of the DVD drive. If you have a regular DVD reader this means you can have like 9.3 gig + 4 gig + your HD all shared at once...
