Subject: [Orb] Complaint from a new subscriberDear Orb List Manager:
I am very disappointed in this "discussion" list. I use the word "discussion" lightly as most of the emails I've read here are simply shouting matches designed to inflame further arguments.
I recently joined the Orb discussion list a few weeks ago. The first week I joined I saw a variety of Orb and music related dialogue. Since then, all I see are flame wars by people with opposing social, political, and economic views. Most of the rhetoric is:
a) hyper-masculine, low-brow, poorly written, and ignorant
or
b) pseudo-intellectual, pretentious, repetitive, and ignorant
As someone who lives in the Bay Area of California, I come across both camps of thought in some form or another...EVERYDAY. Our part of the world is inundated with political coversation, some of which I do take part in (when and where it's appropriate!). However, I do not need political rhetoric in a discussion group related to things I do for fun!
Is there any way to keep the politics out of the Orb group?
