Hi all.

Just got back from the KoKo gig. My wife couldn’t join us as my parents are still working and couldn’t take our son for the night so her ticket went to a friend who’d never seen the Orb before. The place was about ½ - ¾ full.

The evening was great and the music was brilliant. I arrived at about 8.30 whilst Adrian Sherwood appeared to be DJing. I don’t know if I missed the live stuff earlier on. I had a great time dancing to the mixture of down and up tempo music coming out of the system.

At 9.30, Thomas came out onstage to loud applause with an expectant crowd waiting. Most of the people there knew the Orb of old and were really looking forward to the night. Thomas played some really good music, concentrating on his laptop and Alex waited in the wings or came to the front to place flowers on the table on-stage or give them to punters. A while later Alex came on to join Thomas and the party was in full swing. Mostly it appeared to be Alex DJ’ing and Thomas doing some technical wizardry on his laptop. Later on Thomas left and Alex continued until 12.30 on his own. I also bumped into Justin from the list. By the end, the crowd had thinned out considerably as it was a school night. The people left cried for more and got 1 more tune out of him. To a big applause, he finished, shook hands with a couple of people in the crowd and then went off to the wings to chill out.

Whilst it took me 2 ½ hours to get back home via night bus and taxi, it was a great night. I only wish I could see more of them because even though it appeared to be technical stuff on a laptop and DJing, and the show of the past has got less, the music is absolutely brilliant. I hope they do the Big Chill one year and pull together the sort of show they had at Glastonbury 93 (a special event in history) or even at the Astoria in 2000.
