Couldn't get the url to work...but no big deal.
The latest Orb album, Cydonia, came out early this year, but Paterson has already recorded a new Orb album that's ready to be mixed (tentatively titled Battersea Shield), is recording an album with KLF and former Orb member Jimmy Cauty and Pink Floyd bassist Guy Pratt as the Transit Kings,
...
"As we were about to release Cydonia," says Paterson, "everyone was saying that they'd already heard all the new tracks on MP3 websites. So, we were about to release an album that had already been heard. Needless to say, that all stopped when Andy left." What happened? "Well, it's obvious isn't it? There was a spy in the camp," growls Paterson, "but we fixed that." ---- eh? insane...
Yeah; obviously details are lacking, and we can't be sure about the timeframe LX is referring to, but there had been at least 3 runs of record company CD-R promos before Cydonia was released, as well as actual pressed promos in the UK, Germany, and the US...I think it's more reasonable to blame the record company than Andy. It's not like the mp3s were easy to find; AFAIR, they only hit wide distribution a couple of months before the commercial release, *long* after the first CD-R promos. Chris np: Ayumi Hamasaki - End Of The World / Teddy Bear (jpophelp rules!) (the packaging on the Ayumi stuff I've gotten so far is incredible; talk about fetishizing the sacred art form...)
