Alan, you addressed the entire list with your question by posting it here in the first place. If you didn't want to hear from people you don't agree with, you should have posted your question in some liberal forum somewhere where you would get the answers you wanted to hear. For your information, you have made a few assumptions about me: that I'm some sort of right-winger (I'm not-- I'm not a member of the Republican party, and I don't ever intend to be), and that by default I listen to Rush Limbaugh; I don't, I think he's nuts. By quoting him as you did, you're misrepresenting a point of view both expertly and conveniently, simply because you don't agree with it. There have been numerous shows where Rush Limbaugh and other members of the media have backed up their disbelief in global warming, with solid facts and evidence that you simply BEG to ignore. Telling me that all Americans are stupid is plain ignorance: Canadians are Americans, too. Are you calling Canadians stupid, or are you inadvertently misdirecting a nasty comment you want to direct at a subset of the population of the United States with which you don't agree? I don't care whether you agree with me, but your attitude about it is simply astounding. It's precisely the dividing factor in the Democratic party; there are so many radicals with so many causes that trying to find someone to agree with them all is downright impossible. Why not try to have a rational conversation about it, with facts and objectivity, instead of tossing about names and empty phraseology like cows in a tornado? I wasn't talking to you and I'm still not. I'm interested in first hand accounts from Europeans, Canadians, and Brits, not empty rhetoric from American right wingers. That's easy to find.
I'd like to quote Rush Limbaugh from two days ago: "...global warming (which is not happening, by the way)..." That's how the right wingers are being informed these days, folks. Despite accumulated evidence from decades of research by hundreds of thousands of scientists from all corners of the world a fat, stupid talk-show host can tell a bunch of stupid Americans all that is wrong (and evolution as well) and they'll believe him. It's sad but true.
Please remember when we invade France that some of us tried to stop it. The forces of facism are moving steadily forward here trying not to make the same fatal mistakes Hitler made. The goal is still the same.
