true. I realy like "Toxigene" and "once more" a LOT. Heck, even the vocal version of Perpetual Dawn is fine to me.

I consider BM a good example of an artist who can do basically-to-the-standard-pop-formula pop songs that are actually interesting and good as opposed to churned out drivel, with the implication being that something being "pop" isn't by definition bad, means you're a sheep for liking it, etc.  LX has come under some degree of attack for doing poppier stuff, but I have no problem with this as he also does it differently and in an interesting way.

Hey Tim,

I agree. The Orb are psychedelic. How did Bob Mould pop up there? Husker Du flashback?

Maaan, no offense meant, but I'd say anyone who thinks the Orb isn't psychedelic is rather off the mark.  The samples alone are, and always have been, very trip-friendly - like funny and weird/unnerving ("the flight director says get back in!") at the same time, like you know he's fucking with you a bit.  Great fun.

I agree on the minimal stuff - I think I've listened to Okie Dokie twice, I just really can't get into it.  I DISagree (heartily) on the Dream - overproduced?  WTF is THAT?  JFC, man, it's one of the best-sounding CDs in my collection (we are talking Zappa remaster, Steely Dan quality here)(God, I love Steely Dan).  I mean, is Terrarvm "overproduced"?

I really like that the Orb doesn't stand still, and that the Dream album revisits some things like dub without doing it in a stale way (and I like how LX is working in vocals, doing almost pop tracks really (not a bad thing, love Bob Mould), but in his own way - the vox heavily processed for example, and I like what he's been doing with the Korpral (sp?) guy rapping - kinda like Shamen but not as dippy (fine, I enjoy Shamen stuff quite a bit too, while we're at it don't forget I'm also the guy that likes Rush right up there with Orb so you can feel free to write me off as a dipshit if you want).

The Orb MUST go back to their roots. And these roots are NOT psychedelic or abstract at all, but pure fucking DUB. Nothing more, nothing less. I think they should not move into that minimalistic crap IMO. They have been doing that for a while now and it bores the crap out of me.
Also The Dream is a failure to me. Don't get me wrong, i used to listen a lot to Tim Bran's Dreadzone but this is not fun at all. Overproduced i would call it allmost.

Sorry for my rant....
