According to http://blog.gusset.co.uk/blogarc/2004_11_28_archive.shtml: " have vague memories of some controversy in the early 90's about a board game that was banned because of its drug and rave culture related connotations. The game was called Rave and was produced by WOW Enterprises. It was released in the UK in 1991 and after much media uproar, mostly from the Daily Mail from memory, was banned later that year. I can across some pictures of the game recently, with its detailed fractal patterned board, map of London playing surface, and intricate playing pieces. It looks like the work of drug crazed genius. The review of the game here just makes it even more tempting to go and find a copy, and looking at eBay it doesn't seem that difficult to track down (it seems to go for about £25). The concept of needing to periodically collect E ("Energy biscuits") and dance at raves as much as possible before the police shut them down is brilliant. And 13 years ahead of the The Sims: The Urbz. There was even a "Rave Soundtrack" mix tape included with it apparently, compiled by The Orb's Alex Patterson and including tracks by Baby Ford, A Guy Called Gerald, and Blue Pearl. (Yes, Blue Pearl's classic Naked in the Rain is on there). This (slow loading) Orb discography includes details of the cassette. Now is the time to re-release this. What could be a better game to play around the family dinning table on Christmas afternoon?" And according to http://www.textfiles.com/music/DISCOGRAPHY/orb.txt: MC [8/91] Various Artistes : " Rave Soundtrack " [ Wow Enterprises ] [ Limited ] 12 track 'soundtrack tape' to accompany the 'Rave' boardgame, compiled by Alex Paterson. 1: "Exactly" - Safehouse "Naked In The Rain" - Blue Pearl "Flesh(Remix)" - A Split Second "Burn It Up" - Beatmasters "Everthing Starts With An E" - E-zee Posse 2: "Self Hypnosis(Mr Whippy Mix)" - Nexus 21 "I Love You" - Drum And Bass "Voodoo Ray" - A Guy Called Gerald "Get Your Thing Together" - Psychotropic "Flowers" - Baby Ford "Ocean To Ocean(Juan's Magic Mix)" - Model 500 "Big Fun" - Inner City Hmmm!! :-) Cheers, Nick ;-)

Back in 1991, there was a Rave board game (see http://www.phatmedia.co.uk/Rave%20Game/ravegame.html) that came with pills as counters, and the aim was to pick up flyers, try and get into nightclubs, and various other stuff involving pills! :-p Needless to say, this caused an outrage, and the game was banned later on that year! :-)
Anyway, it came with a cassette "compiled by Alex Paterson" which included music by Model 500, Inner City, A Guy Called Gerald, etc.
Has anyone got the game (and thus the soundtrack) and listened to it? Is it just compiled, or are the tracks mixed together?
Cheers,
Nick ;-)
