That show sounds incredible - anyone know if any of those bands are playing in NYC any time soon? Stereolab and Spiritualized were the best shows I've seen in the past year here and I would jump at the chance to see them again -perhaps only eclipsed by the chance to see the Orb again as well, if only the dr could get his ass over here. atk --- Chris Johnson <fnord@sbcglobal.net> wrote:

was celebrating it early). The first act was Sondre Lerche who I am not really familiar with. According to the Bowl;s web site he is from Norway. He was o.k., kind of alternative folk I would say. Next
Yeah, Lerche was meh.

Air was pretty good, but not great. I didn't think they used the orchestra to very good effect; there were large periods of time when the orchestra was just sitting, waiting for their next cue.
music. Their set was pretty much a Talkie Walkie and Moon Safari compendium with some Virgin Suicides thrown in. They closed their set with a final encore of the track from Lost in Translation. It was just an excellent night. It was about 82 degrees out and a beautiful sunset. The moon (either full or near full) was projected on the big screens at the end of the evening. I had box seats about 30 feet back from center stage and since the Bowl allows food and wine I brought a few bottles of Merlot with some different cheeses, olive oil, fresh bread and grapes (as if you wanted to know about that). I brought a friend with me and sharing our box was a very nice Asian girl and her mother both of whom were Air fanatics.
Woof. That's a hell of a birthday treat. I was back in section N. (Although I *was* tempted by the $106 front-and-center tickets that became available on the day before the event. Nice night, with lots of smoking hot nerd-girls and -boys. (LA *is* nice for the eye-candy.)
Don't get me wrong; I really, really like Air, but they just didn't do it for me last night.
BTW, the last track was either Talisman or La Femme D'Argent (I always get them confused); the Lost in Translation track was earlier in the encore.
