Raleigh, N.C. Being a college town one would hope/expect there to be all kinds of musical tastes and the same to be represented in the local indy record shops.
Ahhh, but college students are not inherently more musically well versed than anyone else, they just have more discretionary income. North Carolina is arguably not such a sophisticated town (expecting some flames on this one, but whatever I've been there and its just not) and so the businesses that arrive to siphon off said discretionary income are going to cater to the likes (britney, o-town and the rest of the top 40 drivel that most of the country is hooked upon like morphine) of the students.
Seems I am strangely alone on the orb and other related artists. I get a lot of my "check these guys out" from listening to Musical Starstreams and comparing what I like to the set lists.
Maybe you should try and introduce your fellow students down there to the wonderful inventions of the orb by blaring U.F.Orb out onto the streets for 2 hours a day every day. :) What is Musical Starstreams, BTW?
added to the to-do list. The list is bigger than the bank roll...time for a second job.
I recommend drug smuggling and/or white slavery ring management. Anyone who buys records knows this is the only way to generate enough funds to buy all the stuff you want. :)
Before I ask for anything or offer up mp3s that I have, I would like to get a list of what is IN PRINT and out of print. Reading from the past few digests, the expected behavior regarding this point seems reasonable.
A good rule of thumb is that any remixes done on singles with the exception of things appearing on the aunty aubrey remix comps and any singles BY the orb themselves are out of print, while most of their actual albums are still in print. Generally the vast majority of their work is OOP tho, sadly.
Thanks to the others who have responded as well. Seems like a friendly list.
