Hey all,
I think there is less music floating around before the album release now because there is less time between completion and release
Dunno about that. LX wa spinning tracks from Dream in his DJ sets last year. I also know I can listen to the new album whenever I choose to, only catch is I have to fly to a friend's town outside of the USA to do so... But I've heard good things about it. initial reports say it's nothing like Okie Dokie- that its very ambient and not minimaist techno. As I remember, Cydonia was delayed again & again due to the record lable merger fad of the late 90's- the staff at Island who worked with the Orb got laid off and every version of the album got reviewed by someone different each time. Too much inactivity apparently hit Hughes financially, so he left to earn the big bucks doing non-orbish stuff.
Recall the good ol? Island days when the Orb would record an album and have it canned for two years?as in Cydonia.
Cydonia was cannd for almost 4 years. Instead of releasing it Island/Def Jam/whomever insisted on a best-of album.
OK, I have got to try this green marker thing. I never heard of it. Particularly: will ripped mp3?s be improved with green ink?
the only way to improve ripped MP3's sound quality is to replace the files with the actual source material (CDs, Vinyl...) Listening to the Orb's music with ripped MP3s is about as pointless as fueling a Carrera GT with Speedway 87 octane.
