have not posted in awhile - mainly because there has not been much to post about, particularly since i thought the dream was dreadful (although must say it is somewhat more palatable when listening on headphones versus over speakers) but others seemed to like it so did not want to create a fuss (it is just my opinion on the release). am excited for these two new releases but feel the same way smiley does - great to have "new" old material but it would be even better to have great NEW material - or 2-disc live sets from 93, 95 and/or 97 (my dream would be multiple quality releases from each of these tours - but i know that is just a dream) along with a live dvd - thought this was in the works at one time but have not heard a peep on the subject in what seems like a year.) as with smiley and likely others i will continue to buy "new" old material from the orb, fsol (waiting on three new discs now), skinny puppy, etc. while holding out hope that they catch lightning in a bottle one last time. cheers steve Author: Smiley Date: 2008-05-16 18:572008-05-16 22:57 -400UTC To: orb Subject: Re: [Orb] Actually it's on JUNE 23 it doesn't? hmmm. i was never a big fan of Dreadzone, to be honest... ;-( i have to agree with Rob here. nice as it is to get these 2cd sets, it makes me feel the same way as the massive amounts of old stuff that FSOL have recently "discovered" and released... ...which is, mainly, !we've not really got much good new stuff, so let's milk the old stuff". each to his own, and they're all entitled to make as much as they want with their material, but it makes me a little sad. as the saying goes, the past is a different country - they do things differently there... --- Smiley ----- Original Message ---- From: Nick King nickwking@??? This old stuff has floated around for years and because their latest album sucked, they need to make a little money and "re-release" old stuff. I have come to the fact that they will never be as good as the once were. Their "live" show was good, but it is hard to sustain something like that in the studio. The old team of the orb is gone forever due to personalities and such and just like the klf, has seen better days.
