he's 44 now. i don't believe this is it. i think this more of an "in the studio" year, than a touring one. whether it be with the Orb or as a DJ. there's so many remixes and collaborations released or to be released this year.
Well as a band with a band-feeling The Orb has been quite dead for a few years now. The last albums Cydonia (all of them) and B&T (also all of them) sound more as a greatest (s)hit collection than as a real group effort. Especially with B&T one can divide the Fehlmann from the LX sound. IMO the Kompakt Orb releases are just Fehlmann cashing in on the groups name because he's not selling shit under his own name (although I find his solo releases quite good). Maybe Fehlmann should issue these releases under Der Orb instead! On the other hand it annoys me as well that 'new' LX releases are appearing as The Orb on every f*cking album that is remotely LX related, only because the cleaning lady of the brother of the producer has shagged LX fifteen years ago. Maybe they should split the band, like Gong did decades ago: Der Orb, LX's Orb, Youth's Orb, TrashOrb... In fifteen years time they can hold a big Orbfest like Gong did a few years ago, assembling all the Gong-clones on a single festival (even System7 was there). Felix (who still hopes the Orb are not over, yet, please...) PS: what about the Belgian gig then at Leffingeleure festival on 18 September???
