The 9:30 is great place to see shows, in fact, 2 of my friends just finished a documentary on the original 9:30 club...hopefully it will be playing Visions theatre in the next couple of months. But as far as hanging out goes, I prefer the Black Cat....its kinda like a 9:30 junior. They do occasionally have some electronic shows, but its mostly britpop. I just hang at the bar and put on the MC5 and T.Rex on the jukebox. And to keep on topic, does anyone have a copy of the orb's show at the 9:30 club? I think it was '97 or '98 on the orblivian tour with sun electric....the LFC from the 2-disc UFoff was recorded from that show. Yer Pal, Gel-Sol www.gel-sol.com
Hey I live in DC too, and I have to agree the electronic music scene here blows. There used to be Nation, but that was all kids (the kids!) and got shut down by the man anyway. And ESL is the same ol' preppy "we're downtempto not chillout and you cant get in cuz your pants aint leather and you dont have 15 euro models on your arm" crap that seems to follow any music other then southern rock around here, I call it "New York Envy". I saw Orb at 9:30, they suprise with a good act every once in a while and I also like club 5 <when i can drag my friends to go>. If you know somewhere cool to go, lemme know. PS Glad to hear other ppl agree you dont have to do drugs to enjoy the Orb Tired of spam? Get advanced junk mail protection with MSN 8.
