Too right. Although there were a few acts amiss, this certainly didn't detract from a blooming fantastic night. 3 hours of orb, plus LX in all kinds of other manifestations. Missed Loophead unfortunately, but if they were anywhere near as good as they were at Glastonbury, it must have been a right treat.

But as for the Orb- this is easily the best I've ever seen them. The first (2 hour) set from something like 12.30-2.30am was a blinder, and a total collection of classics- I particularly liked the electro break they strapped onto a Huge Ever......Blue Room was also as Lush as ever- real sweeping amibience to it. What was even better was the amount of time they had to play with versions of tunes. This lead to extended versions of nearly all their tracks.  Not least in the case of Outlands- how massive have the beats become for this tune!!? Perpetual Dawn had the same old dueling banjo mix- not that I'm complaining- I fricking love it. With such a massive back catalogue, it was kind of inevitable that there would be amissions from the set, but in terms of playing the peeps' favourite's- and playing heavily beated-up versions every time you couldn't really ask for more.

But there was more. The second set (from about 5am-6am) started totally ambient with Plateau (I think)- and strayed a little into Pomme Fritz territory before melding into the last track off Cydonia (subtle on the album- but here building into a sweet plodding breakbeat), and then into an extended version of Towers of Dub. These tracks were exactly what was needed at that time of night, and were the last tracks that were played 'live'- after that it was LX DJing some rare Orb treats- some blinding techno- V.Loophead in style- then that mix of little fluffys- slightly cheasy that he ended the night with it (especially having played the Dance MK2 version live earlier), but I suppose it was essentially a night of LX's efforts, and it was kind of a fitting end to what is the culmination of the Orb to this date.

As for the rest of the night, well, I think I remeber seeing Mutiverse, and have nothing more to say (because I was too battered to remember), other than their set was wicked. Thomas Fehlman also played a fairly lengthy set including some gems from his own albums. He was playing in the back room, which was fairly sparse in terms of the amount of people there. I've been to the Ocean twice before (to see FSOL and Coldcut), and believe me when I say, the capacity was nowhere near its limit- and originally the night was billed as having 3 rooms- but probably due to poor ticket sales, one of the rooms had been blockaded off. In the main room, there were plenty of people to create a good atmosphere though, and this was definitely aided by some updated BadOrb visuals. Still there were the basic old pixels that have haunted the Orb's performaces until recently (such dated visuals for such forward-thinking music), but they were just the bottom layer of a whole matrix of BadOrb animations, completely centered around the BadOrb chosen colour of grey! DJ Lewis must have played at least 4 sets- and having been too young to appreciate the Orb around the classic UFOrb/ Adventures era, it was a treat to see this Orb associate of old, who consistently played interesting breaks and electro. Think PrayerBox were good too, but the drugs at that point were even better, so I have nothing to say about their performance either. I'm sure I must have seen other treats too (Creature, Autolump!?), but was too battered to remeber.

But believe- this night was a complete ripper. All I wanna know now- DID SOMEONE RECORD IT?

Peace y'all.
