I agree with the Radiohead/general direction back towards something proggy going on. You've got FSOL playing with live groups (and sounding incredibly amateurish IMO), Orb doing albums chopped into songs,... and some other electronic guys going (or returning to) rock sounds and instruments. I was recently lamenting the absence of stupid, overblown crap like Styx or ELP or Rush. Actually I hate listening to Rush but damn did they put on a killer show. And I still wince at the thought that I can sing along to the Cornerstone album by Styx. Or the huge soft spot I have for Tarkus by ELP (I think I was 8 when I bought that lp). Close to the Edge and Fragile are both incredible albums by Yes and I think define all the best qualities that that awesome combination of musicians could produce... Man, I haven't listened to those in years. JG, I hope that digital rotten tomato I chucked at you didn't hurt. I got a cool lp from a lady I was working for today. It's a "super high definition stereo" lp of sound effects from 1957. It claims to have a frequency response of 16-25,000hz! I can't wait to give it a listen. It includes cop cars, motorcycles, and a bunch of horse sounds. Well, I have to wait as I'm leaving for a few days. I wish I had something to say about Thomas Dolby but I don't. The very concept of listening to Thrash having sex (especially since he's as old as he is and is only just figuring out the G-spot) really made me kind of sick to my stomach. I knew about and had found the G-spot back when I was 18. That girlfriend wasn't super sensitive on the clit (compared with many women) though her nipples were extremely sensitive. Go figure. Does anyone here like Psychic TV? They supposedly held ceremonies in the studio and recorded the resulting orgasms for looping. I'm one of those people that really loved Towards Thee Infinite Beat. Unfortunately my cd has started flaking towards the outside so many of the tracks are gone. I've got an lp (limited to 666 copies, how cool is that?) of Allegory and Self which is very different but I also love that. www.psychicreform.com Change your mind. "I'm the commander--see, I don't need to explain--I do not need to explain why I say things. That's the interesting thing about being the president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel like I owe anybody an explanation." -- George Bush
