"we never received any invitations to join this next generation on stage." Uh, maybe if they had released the fucking thing? Not that I'm huge on PF (though they do fit nicely into the evolution of rock/ambient/psy/etc, and obviously had their effect), but it might help if they released something like this, esp if it was of actual, authentic (read, not newage) quality!!! this book by Nick Mason is pretty interesting, lots of good stories & photos.
in a section about the Division Bell album:
We eventually ended up with enough left-over material that we considered releasing it as a second album, including a set we dubbed 'The Big Spliff', the kind of ambient mood music that we were bemused to find being adopted by bands like the Orb, although - unlike Gong's Steve Hillage - we never received any invitations to join this next generation on stage.
