[Orb] Toxygene/Jarre question

I realize that this question has been around the block a few times already, but... I have a few print sources here that discuss the Toxygene being a very remixed version of Oxygene, including some stuff about Jarre being upset and that The Orb had plans to put Jarre's wife on the cover and has a couple quotes from Paterson regarding Jarre/"the French". However, clearly quite a few fans believe it to be a hoax, but why? Did The Orb at any time state that it was a hoax? Or is it just fan speculation/assumption that it was a hoax? I've scoured the mailing list archives and haven't found anything, so pardons if I missed it. Infinite thanks! Jon S.
