The Orb R.I.P.

Me and my wife went this week end to the NAME festival in Roubaix,
North of France.
It's a festival in an old factory with three large stages.
The sound was really good in the beginning of the event and there
were some fun stuff to do (like strange video games and such...)
The Orb did a live set at midnight after a live set by Petter (which
was pretty good).
I didn't see or recognize Youth, but Fil was there as a roadie, and
Tim Bran as his sidekick with the Corpral singing from time to time.
I didn't really like this live set. Why ? Because Tim Bran asked to
the sound guys to put the volume as up as possible. Some people went
away because of that.
And it made the tracks almost painful to hear (thank god I had
earplugs).
The Petter live had a really good sound, The Orb hadn't.
Here's the tracklisting (I don't have The Dream yet, but I wasn't
impressed by the new unknown tracks).
1. A huge (dance mix) / From a distance
2. Towers of dub
3. New Track
4. Outlands (the new uptempo version)
5. New Track
6. It's Alright (Sterling Void) / Little Fluffy Clouds
7. Little Fluffy Clouds (Danny Tenaglia mix)
8. New cool track
9. Perpetual Dawn
10. Blue Room
11. New track
12. Freebird
The tracks 7 and 12 were clearly not live.
I might sound like an old guy, but I really miss the magic. The old
tracks were not really done well. No flow, no ambient intros.
I miss Andy Hughes and the 1996-1997 live sets, when it was really
dreamy AND drum n bass AND spacey.
I miss OOBE, long versions of Blue Room, Terminus...
I hope the next live sets will be better, but I'm not sure I will be
there.
