Thanks for the review Rachel, damn I wish I was there.

Orb shows in the Bay are always the bomb, with some of the best crowds I've ever seen at any show anywhere!  For me Henry Kaiser in 97 was as good if not better than Maritime Hall.    Have fun (but not too much fun) in LA tonight kids!

Hey Orbsters!

Whew! What a night. It certainly wasn't my favourite Orb show (which is
still Maritime Hall), but a good adventure nonetheless.  I had a blast,
as did the entire packed venue.

So the setup was Felhmann djing some good old fashioned techno first,
then LX came out and joined him live, and then LX finished solo with a
dj set.  I think Andy covered more trainspotting details than I could,
but suffice to say the whole live set was very "Cool Harboury". Mind
you, there were some very old school orb moments - subversive samples,
teases of songs that never arose, and atmospheric interludes that kept
you guessing where you would wind up. And I thought the video was
superb.

I was a little bummed that most of my old faves weren't included,
except for those that got a pretty house treatment. (Outlands springs
to mind.) Overall, it was a very techno/house show, with very few
dub/ambient moments, which I found myself missing towards the end.

I really enjoyed LX's dj set after - he threw on some great stuff like
the original source for the Blue Room song (Is that Ariwa Sound system?
I'm working from memory here.) and ended with the Toxygene/Eminem mix,
which was a fun way to cap the night. He really seemed to be having a
fantastic time - dancing, jumping, grinning from ear to ear. The dj
portion really felt a lot like you were hanging out in his house,
listening to his favourite records with him.

About that time the crowd thinned out a bit, and I finally ran into a
few familiar faces (Hi Andy! Hi Harken!), but I was also surprised and
the number of folks I never encountered (Sorry Clint, my cell died so I
was out of communications. Seofon, were you there?).

I'm sad that I won't make it down to LA tonight - send a good report
back, kidz!  I think its going to be an incredible event! Regardless of
whether the music is exactly what you hoped for, it was still
definitely the Orb, and so nice to see a packed venue of random folks
throwin it down and smiling from ear to ear.

=)
