Alan, you addressed the entire list with your question by posting it here in the first place. If you didn't want to hear from people you don't agree with, you should have posted your question in some liberal forum somewhere where you would get the answers you wanted to hear.
I love a good argument as all the older listees well know. What I wanted, however, was some information from non-Americans about their impression of their healthcare system. What I got, from you small group of Americans, was obscenities, personal attacks, and wishes of failure.
For your information, you have made a few assumptions about me: that I'm some sort of right-winger (I'm not-- I'm not a member of the Republican party, and I don't ever intend to be), and that by default I listen to Rush Limbaugh; I don't, I think he's nuts.
Fine.
By quoting him as you did, you're misrepresenting a point of view both expertly and conveniently, simply because you don't agree with it. There have been numerous shows where Rush Limbaugh and other members of the media have backed up their disbelief in global warming, with solid facts and evidence that you simply BEG to ignore.
As best I can tell (and yes, I'm one of those geeks that actually goes to the library and reads peer reviewed scientific journals) the "science" those people rely on is as firmly based in data and the scientific method as the tobacco industry's "science" that said cigarettes aren't bad for you. The small number of energy industry sponsored "scientists" that muster arguments about the non-existance of global warming (yeah, just because a half million year old glacial ice shelf recently collapsed doesn't mean the world is warming up, der) are, in my opinion, loonier than flat earthers and far more evil.
Telling me that all Americans are stupid is plain ignorance: Canadians are Americans, too.
Whoa whoa whoa! Please show me where I said all Americans are stupid.
Are you calling Canadians stupid, or are you inadvertently misdirecting a nasty comment you want to direct at a subset of the population of the United States with which you don't agree?
I think I referred to the people that believe in Rush Limbaugh as stupid Americans. Is that what you're blathering about?
I don't care whether you agree with me, but your attitude about it is simply astounding. It's precisely the dividing factor in the Democratic party; there are so many radicals with so many causes that trying to find someone to agree with them all is downright impossible. Why not try to have a rational conversation about it, with facts and objectivity, instead of tossing about names and empty phraseology like cows in a tornado?
My attitude is I know what I'm talking about and I've actually got data and history to back me up. But this goes back to my original contention that I asked a question of some other people and you attacked me for questioning the neo-con worldview. My question simply intimated that I might disagree with the healthcare system as it is in the US so it's open season to insult me, curse me, and wish that my business fails. By the way, I also didn't compare Bush to Hitler. I pointed out that our government is moving in a fascist direction. Fascism is the farthest right you can go, isn't it? You guys really need to learn how to read. Anyway, if you want to have a discussion off list that's great. I'm done with this on list, however. I apologize to our non-American friends. This is pretty much how it is in the US now. If you think this is bad you should try driving in rush hour traffic. God forbid you need to merge in front of an SUV "Support our Troops and President Bush" stickered SUV driven by a crophaired soccer mom. We've become a nation of angry teenagers. It's no wonder Bush got elected (by a minority of registered voters). Blaze away Tim C. Internet+Anonymity=Asshole. I'm having nothing to do with your ugly self any more. ____________________ www.psychicreform.com ____________________ "Political criticism is our enemies' best friend."
