Video disc etc

Hi I still use mine.....DVD is better but i dont have one. I like the fact that you can copy quite easily decent MPEGS and burn them in nero without any hassle. you can still quite easily get stuff on VCD but it mostly comes from the far east.Over there it was a very popular format and they still use it. regards Mark whos goin to Brighton on Saturday ?

things i have been getting into of late: _Imperial_ by Robin Guthrie -- ex-Cocteau turned guitar dronist. nice and relaxing. _Midnight at the Black Nail Polish Factory_ by The Deathray Davies -- Denton, TX band with obvious Kinks fondness releases stunning disk of quirky catchy poptunes. very nice, but completely and utterly non-electro. (yes, this uses guitars, so those of you who are scared of guitars be forewarned.) _Peter Tosh: The Columbia Years_ -- a decent collection, but not the best. Still, Tosh had a great voice and always had a good band. _Twoism_ by Boards of Canada -- as mentioned here by someone else. the new Ulrich Schnauss, which i only have on vinyl so i don't have it with me. VERY nice. the second song of side 2 of disc 1 is stunning. dunno what it's called. _Send_ by Wire. old art punks can still rock out, you know. a surprisingly fast and furious disc for oldsters. i have also been tearing through new singles by Airiel, Lorelei, Portal with V/VM, Miles Tilmann and Larvae, Jet By Day ... etc. for old stuff: for some reason i re-re-re-discovered Talk Talk's _The Colour of Spring_. brilliant. also been listening to Coltrane' _Meditations_. not easy listening, but very impressive in its own way. also: _Incunnabula_ by Autechre -- i foundn an old tape of this, so i have been listening to it in the car. it makes morning commutes very surreal. IMO I feel like he took a joke just a bit too far. The old saying "don't cry wolf" comes to mind. Had I been in the same position those posts would caught my attention and been treated very seriously. How cool is that! >> ~oh yeah, i forgot about these. the place i went to college, Oglethorpe ~University in Atlanta, had a screening theatre and a ton of these. the ~guy who distrubuted them in ATL was an alumni, and Jesus told him to ~give his school movies.... ~so yeah -- this was good stuff. you had to get up and flip the movie ~over though.... I hate to chime in on any format debate as I think they're all wonderful and they all suck ass in one way or another but I remember these discs. The University that my dad taught at had a huge collection of the things and we'd watch them all summer. This was around the same time that renting VHS movies was becoming big (oh my god! they screamed, this'll kill the movie industry!) and I thought those laser discs looked great. As a matter of fact, I still have two of them that I'm going to make into clocks if I can ever find the right works for them. Sad to see this Ritchie thing happen. Admittedly I was a little freaked to see code sitting in the e-mail. Since I have no idea what it means it really bothered me and left me suspicious as well. I guess if my site had been hacked (and it was probably someone paid by Madonna or her people) I'd be frikkin' jumpy as well.
