Any of u brits see this Vladivar Vodka commercial? Its so catchy. Its a local kook that I tried to bring up on here before but nobody responded. He appeared in Starsky & Hutch as a "dance-off" challenger and is now very big. I swear, we get Alley G and So Graham and you get Har Mar Superstar. I actually like some of his songs and his cover of Stevie Wonder's "Sir Duke," is actually really good. I would definitely agree. I have only had one listen, but at the time i thought there was something familiar about the track. Once I heard the new samples about the sky it became clear. Not a bad track I suppose, and surely it's live version will absolutely knock your socks off ; ) Oh by the way I think I'm going to London tomorrow( I like to do it spur of the moment stylie ) and should be there for a week or so, and was wondering if any orbsters could let me know if there are any upcoming orb gigs in europe over the next 6 weeks or so that I could catch. This may be my only shot to get the full B&T experience or any orb live experience for that matter. That or any other suggested electronic music festivals or gigs that are not to be missed in the humble opinion of the trusted orbsters. Lets face it almost any advice would be great. Corbett p.s. It's better than a blank cd-r most of the time. The point I was trying to make in my diatribe (really, there usually is a point) was bands often are far better live than they are on their albums and in my opinion there's no point in releasing the album if it is nowhere near as good as the live performance. You listen to Adventures and then listen to live performances and they're both stellar in different ways. If your album is shit, put it on the shelf, go out and tour for a few months, and then come in straight after a good show and remix the thing to emulate the quality of the live performance. In the case of the Orb their albums should be their own little universe that you can plug into your brain machine and be transported to a place that is both entertaining and overwhelming. B&T is like a bunch of "club beats" and "dj tools" that have been slapped together without purpose. I've always said B&T has some great moments on it but so do the presets in my MC-303. Great moments do not an album make. This magical thing that is greater than the sum of its parts and which is augmented by experiencing the live show but which stands on its own? Why not first go play your incredible live set of your new material and then go into the studio and make an approximation of that instead of releasing a shit album of dirt basics you use for your live show? So fucking what if the live show is great? There's a lot of us that the Orb won't come close to on this or any tour and we can't afford to fly to Europe or Japan to see them so their live show is as relevant to us (unless we get a really nice boot of it, hint hint) as the price of oil to an ant. The album is what we've got and it's a piece of crap.
