Sample Spotted - Little Orb Content

Hey, I was listening to the college jazz station this morning and heard a song that Funki Porcini sampled. I don't remember the name of the Funki Porcini song but it was on Let's See What Carmen Can Do (I think it was the one that has the "my stomach feels good already" bit). Anywho, the name of the song is "Stolen Moments" by Oliver Nelson on The Blues and the Abstract Truth album. FP sampled some of the flute by Eric Dolphy. That made my day! Also, I bought another Plaid CD over the past weekend, Double Figure, on a CD shopping spree (along with a Melodian's CD, the Trojan Ska Box and the Harder They Come DVD). I like most of it. Some of the songs are a little too "space opera" for me but it's an alright CD, I guess. I like Rest Proof Clockwork better. I also talked the cashier into giving me the 12" orb promo that they were giving out for purchasing B&T. Best mix of "From a Distance" I've heard yet - but that's not saying much. Share RV to Burning Man??

Ok folks... I know it's a bit late here... But I would really like to go to Burning Man, and am looking for people interested in sharing the cost of an RV rental. Looking to get to the playa on Monday (8/30), and leave Sunday night (9/5) or Monday morning (to beat traffic). Leaving and returning to the SF bay area (Oakland most likely). I cannot stress enough the importance of having a sink, shower, air conditioner, microwave, place to escape the dust storms, fridge to store your food in, etc. THE RV IS THE ONLY WAY TO FLY!!! :-) In the past, the rental has run about $400-600 per person. Please let me know ASAP if you or anyone you know would be interested! Thanks! _jason_

I spotted that darn, "All I want is my stereo" sample on Tino Corp's 'My Name is Tino' and I was wondering what the story is behind it. I swear that can be found on Voyage Into Paradise, as well as somwhere else, Aunt Aubrey, or Coldcut's 'Journey By DJ' or somewhere.... post script; why does this subject line seem like a feminine product advert? Why is everyone so quiet and lame? Cuz its nice out eh? post post scrip; (damn you) Godamn Ali G is killing all expectations. We almost aren't ready for him, nor will we ever be? The time has finally come for me to shut down my PC for the last time, well for at least the next 12 months while I do a spot of globe trotting. It's not that easy, I can tell ya. Many thanks to all on this list, especially the chap who pointed out Flock of Bleeps, cheers mate its a blinder, and all the other kind souls who have helped me get some crazy music to freak my friends and family out with. Cheers especially to all who have given me a little info on pubs, clubs, gigs and festies that are going on while I walk off these itchy feet over the coming year. I'm looking forward to bugging the lot of you as I pass through with my 40Gb MP3 player. ;) If anyone has any more info on events and quality musical establishments in these places roughly around these times then please send them to my new, spam free email address of billy.b(at)prbox.com, this old spam clogged mail is about to be killed off once and for all. "Website older than girls I've dated lately." That's so sick. I mean, I won't deny having dated an 18 year old just five years ago but... well... what is the oldest a website could possibly be? 12 years old? So just curious if anyone knows of the oldest webpage on the web. I mean, is there something up there that was created back when the web was an experimental military thing? Al Gore, by the way, was the main force in the Senate that got the original internet funding pushed through and he was very closely involved with the creation of the internet as a steward and patron which is what the common misquote of him is all about. Anyway, I think that would be a fascinating thing to know. Also, my fledgling art car was involved in a parade and display over the weekend. I'm going to start embedding LEDs in the skin so if there are any brilliant electronic engineers that would like to help me wire the grid and design the controllers, please contact me. I'm beginning to think I need to mix regular bulbs (for fades) with the LEDs but I really want the system to run on spools with trailing arms in grooves to turn them off an on. There will be nine segments total and I want to mount the light controlling machine (primitive and advanced at once) on and about the dashboard. I figure the LEDs can be controlled in groups of four or so and still be able to make complicated movements. Anyway, if you'd like to help with this I'll give you credit somewhere on the outer surface as well as on the control mechanism itself.
