I was just wondering if anyone has any Edward Artemiev. He is a Russian pioneer of electroacoustic music during the Soviet era and did the sound tracks for Tarkovsky's Solaris (1972), Mirror (1974), and Stalker (1979). I love the movies and would like to hear more of his stuff. If you own some, have any copies, or know of any sounds on the web of his stuff, please give me a holler off the list.

Orb sample and Fraggle Rock?

So I recently acquired some old Fraggle Rock episodes. During each episode they read a letter from their "uncle traveling matt" who is exploring outerspace (which is actually our world.) Anyway, every time they show "uncle traveling matt" they play this trippy acid loop. This loop was giving me flashbacks and I realized I think I've heard it off an Orb album. I'm thinking it's U.F.ORB but I can't find my cd. Anyone have any idea? -Bridget

I totally agree. They shouldn't make crappy movies that cost a lot money. I think in the case of the FF they spent a lot of money on a film that they thought would have generate FF a mass appeal, when in fact it only targeted a niche audience. We could have given that money to afghanistan :-P Personally I would rather see movie studios spend way less money on special effects and whatnot and focus on what makes movies REALLY great: character development and plot. Can someone tell me what the Orb Live in Japan video is all about? All I know is that it is just over 10 minutes long and it is bloody brilliant. Is there a longer version floating around out there? I don't think the movie made enough money for them to justify making another. Those CG movies are extremely expensive to make. The games cost less and they sell millions of copies for $50, rather than $5-$10 movie ticket price. IMO the movie was poorly written anyway, so they're better off sticking to games. I saw Focault's pendulum in the Pantheon in Paris a couple years back (just after smapling some of the greenery that I had gotten in Amsterdam) it was awesome - I stood there awe struck by it for quite some time It really kind of blew my mind there was also strange ambient music echoing around the place (and a picture of a monk carrying around his head in his hands), as well as the graves of Voltaire and some other people a really strange place - cool history too during (one of the revolutions) people used it as a stronghold against the government anyway thought that i'd add my 2 cents >Read focault's pendulum.
