I have that same clutchless motor. I've taken it off the in the last year and don't sail with a motor anymore. It's somewhat liberating. For now I'll say something foolish and proud like "what's all this motor talk, aren't we sailing"? Maybe in a few months when I get stuck on the rocks due to no wind, I'll be back asking questions on how to clean a carb on old honda 2hp that's been lying in the garage. Maybe some hull patching questions too.

OK ... i forget the 'author' of the 'snake oil' fuel mix for storing/running our outboards bu this is what i have started using after increased concerns with ethanol in gas - mix your fuel using the recommended amounts of STA-BIL and SEAFOAM. run the motor, in a bucket if not on boat in water, for 10ish minutes to assure the mixed fuel is into the carb and fuel feed lines. i also make it a practice of starting my outboard for 10ish minutes (in a bucket) every one to two months during the off season. not had a problem in the last five years.
