Re: M_Boats: Need some "Sage" advice
Maybe the torsion bar axle set-up (split) would work but I think again you may have alignment/tire wear issues unless the frame was very rigid so that it stayed square - hard to achieve with the wishbone type setup. Ground clearance is an issue if you are on anything but good paved roads usually with the wishbone type - and 'exposed' nose and lower edges of keel are a concern - we had a guy build one that way for a C-22 - If I were starting over on a trailer I would put tubular uprights (square or round) and lift the boat ON the trailer using long - replacement uprights to support the boat or hell - put acme screws under them ala boat stands. How is the boat going? have you sailed yet?? Take Care, Have Fun, Get it Sailing! GO PS - trailer tip of the day - try and get the stern of the boat higher when on the trailer - they unload and load MUCH better - do the drawing of the boat on the trailer at the ramp - clear as day - ass up works miracles.
