Thomas, I would love to see more detailed photos of this mod if possible. Or, better yet, see it in person. Will you be at the WICR next week? I'm bringing Monita from Minneapolis, not so much for the racing (although that will be fun too) as for the chance to see other owners mods and learn how they dealt with various issues. Hello Henry, No, I won't be going to WICR or whatever. I do plan on getting some pictures out onto the MSOG photosite of the cockpit drains very soon. Under boat name "AS-IS". I agree with you, going to small cabin boat meets is a LOT of fun just to see how others do things. This website is a real selling point for these Montys. Great support for a very specific boat. Thomas, Great pics and really nice boat. You've done a great job on her. Question - Have you sailed yet with your new cockpit drains installed? I'm curious whether you will get water coming into the cockpit thru the low side drain when heeled. I've seen some installations where they cross the drain lines to prevent that. Hi Larry, thanks for the compliment. Crossing them is a good idea but in that small space you would have to remove them to service anything back there since the drain hoses would cross right in front of the access panel opening. I considered how far over I would have to be to get water in the lower drain and my rail would be in the water. Not my style. I did miss one picture while on the boat concerning the installation. I did not photograph the flapper valve I installed over each transom opening. It is a "Blue Sea" or "Sea Dog" accessory and bolts on right over the opening in the transom. It has a sturdy rubber flapper valve captured in the frame which allows only the flapper to open outward only. It is usually closed until cockpit water pushes it open otherwise following seas will tend to seal it tighter. I priced the inline check valves and decided to go with the $5 flapper valves all things considered. On Sun, Feb 5, 2017 at 5:03 PM, Larry Yake <larryyake@gmail.com> wrote:
