OK ... i know this has been discussed before; but one cannot search the forum posts done after mid-2004 easily. those with storage covers (mast down) for their M17s: where did you have the cover made? i've attempted contact with trailersailor.com and received the response, "we don't make boat covers." dave scobie M17 #375 - SWEET PEA
Your best bet might be to find a local canvas shop for proper fit. Barring that, these folks do a lot of boat covers: http://www.sailorstailor.com/ Tod Mills M17 #408, 1987 galley model BuscaBrisas

I would highly recommend the cover made by the guys at sailorstails.com. The materials quality and their workmanship are very good, and the cover is a perfect fit (they have measured the M-17 and have it in their database). The only issue is that I have not been able to properly tie the top of the cover for trailering above 50mph (if flails in the wind). Other than that, it has kept my woodwork in great condition this summer, and it takes about 5 minutes to take off and about 10 to put on. Andrei.
I second Andrei's opinion of the Sailor's Tailor M-17 cover. I would add that their M-17 cover is made for use with the mast up, since it has a bridle over the cockpit area which attaches to the main halyard to keep the cover convex up, which prevents water pooling. I can understand that the extra material here might flap when trailering. As Andrei says, quality and workmanship are outstanding. Great protection for brightwork. Sailorstailor.com made mine and did a great job. It does take time to put it all together though. Dave: I've used the stowed mast as a ridge pole and hung plastic tarp to tent over the whole boat. Not fancy, but works if wind or snow aren't big problems. ⎈--Gary ☺ On Aug 30, 2009, at 11:41 AM, W David Scobie wrote:

Dave, My local upholsterer made one for all seasons (mast up, mast down, in the water, on the trailer), but it is so complicated that he won't duplicate it without a boat for pattern. I will try to get some pictures when I get my boat off the mooring in a month or so (too difficult to take on and off daily without a dock). Maybe the general concept will be of value.
