Montgomery 15 Companion Way Hatch Cover
I am the owner of an older M15 and when I slide my companion way hatch cover open it does not slide smoothly. It sounds as though it is sliding on grit and I can see where it is wearing through the gel coat. Is there something that the hatch cover is to be sliding on? Or should this be lubricated in some fashion?
Mine gets gritty all the time and needs cleaning; sometimes with a toothbrush to get in the impossible places. I’m toying with the idea of using Sailkote lubricant in the groove but don’t know if it will get sticky and collect more grit. I use Sailkote to raise my main sail more smoothly and it has worked great Pete M15 Chinook Breeze Sent from my iPhone

I solved the problem by purchasing those small button chair nylon glides. They sell them at HD. They are small and thin enough to not cause an issue with the hatch binding. I placed one on the underside of each corner of the hatch lip. I’ve not had any issues with the hatch since. ~Skip <Sent from my iPhone>
